When you use Afrikaans Tutor GPT:
- Conversations: Your messages (such as words, questions, or answers) are processed so the Tutor can respond.
- Usage Data: Basic usage information (like how often you interact) may be collected by OpenAI to improve the GPT platform.
- No personal accounts: The Tutor does not require sign-up, personal profiles, or sensitive personal information.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide vocabulary, example sentences, and reading passages.
- To improve your language practice experience.
- To create flashcards or pronunciation examples if you request them.
- To help track learning progress (within a session).
We do not sell or share your information with advertisers.
3. Sharing Information
- Conversations are processed by OpenAI (the platform provider).
- If you choose to enable external “Actions” (such as dictionary lookups or text-to-speech services), your query text will be shared with those APIs to return definitions or audio.
- We do not otherwise share or disclose your data to third parties.
4. Data Storage & Retention
- Conversations may be stored temporarily by OpenAI to operate and improve the GPT service.
- The Tutor itself does not keep or remember information once a chat session ends.
- If you use external integrations (e.g., flashcards to Google Sheets), data may be stored according to those services’ policies.
5. Your Rights
- You may choose not to enter personal information.
- You may stop using the Tutor at any time.
- If you are under 18, use this Tutor only with a parent, guardian, or teacher’s guidance.
6. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. However, as with any online service, we cannot guarantee complete security.
7. Third-Party Services
The Tutor may connect to:
- OpenAI (ChatGPT platform)
- Lexicala Dictionary API (via RapidAPI) – for word lookups
- Azure or Google Text-to-Speech – for Afrikaans audio
- Google Sheets/Zapier/Make – for optional flashcard saving
These services have their own privacy policies.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted at the policy link you use to access this page.
