Dreams can come true
I am a true believer in the old cliché that tells us that “Dreams can come true”.
Cre8tive Kids began as a dream to have my own business. As a child I grew up wanting to be a nursery school teacher. I spent a while working in a Pre-School after matric, and knew that I rather wanted something of my own. I have always had entrepreneurial flair and starting a business happened quite naturally. Since 2004, Cre8tive Kids has grown from strength to strength. We never turn down an opportunity to grow and be challenged, and this I believe is what has kept us in business over the last 12 years.
My other dream is of a more personal nature, but I share it here because it is a part of who I am and has become a huge part of all that I do. I have always known, without a shadow of a doubt that part of my purpose on earth is to be a mother. As it turned out, I did not go about this in any ordinary sort of way, at least not how I pictured it when I was 16. The little white picket fence and happily ever after never happened, but I do have two wonderful children (twins, in fact) who call me mom, and hearing them say it is like music to my ears every time. At the age of 32, my yearning to have a child became more than a desire. I would literally wake up in the middle of the night feeling as though I could hear a whisper, urging and nudging me not to wait any longer. So, I DECIDED to become a single mom (no, this is not a swear word!), with a whole lot of support from a whole lot of family. I visited the Cape Fertility Clinic and chose an anonymous sperm donor and the rest, as they say is history. Having spent all of my teenage years, and most of my twenties in the grips of a severe eating disorder that very nearly took my life, I am the first to say that the miracle of my children is never, ever lost on me. Not for a second. I am grateful every day for second chances and I hope that reading my story will inspire others to believe in their dreams too.
