At Cre8tive Kids we are equally passionate about children and purposeful play. We believe that in today’s world of computers and advanced technology, where children can so easily forget what traditional play is all about, developing and fostering creative imaginations in children is essential to their well-being. When presented with the opportunity, children LOVE to get their hands dirty, get their creative juices flowing and simply PLAY, but it is a sad reality of the society we live in that such opportunities for children are rare. Our vision is to provide a safe and happy space for children in which they are stimulated creatively, by means of a wide variety of educational activities, which encourage both gross motor play as well as intellectual and imaginative play.
In essence, we believe that there is a wide gap between the many varied needs of children and the quality of children’s entertainment that is presently available to them. We believe that we can use the experience we have gained in working with children in both an individual as well as a group context to facilitate a move towards more purposeful and meaningful play.
About the founder:
Cre8tive kids was founded, and is run by Nikki Wates who works alongside a dedicated team of helpers.
Nikki’s passion and enthusiasm for children developed while completing three years of Occupational therapy at UCT, which has given her immense insight into the needs of children in both an individual, as well as a group context. It was this passion that prompted her to start Cre8tive Kids in the hope that she would be able to provide a space where children would feel safe and nurtured. Nikki’s commitment to teaching children to tap into their innately creative ability to be whole little people is evident is all aspects of the work we do at Cre8tive Kids.
“I believe that with the technological advancement of the society we find ourselves living in today children no longer experience the magical essence of play, and as a result so many miss out on this crucial time of their lives. It is our aim to find that magic and bring some of it back into our fast-paced lives. I also know that in order for our children to develop into the wholesome little beings we would love them to become it is our responsibility as adults to provide them with the gifts they need to grow.
